Please register to forum by clicking here to see links.i might try this flagg............ i was really disappointed in sombrero which crashed on me every couple minutes and it became so annoying i just decided to delete it after only using it for about 1 hour..... i never used a viewer so unstable. Sad  i had had high hopes for it since ds is not loading The Shops mesh project mesh faces or people's mesh bodies properly.

Likewise, I had a lot of trouble with Sombrero crashing on XML import/export, although it seemed to handle mesh better than DarkStorm (even with the temporal fix). Some mesh bodies / body parts look so ridiculous on DS that it makes me glad I'm still rocking the SL bits and bobs! =)

glad i am not the only one with sombrero issues....... all i was doing was copying shapes. i have a lot of patience but that was just too much crashing even for me.  i am using the temporal fix but its a texturing issue that DS is having with the shops faces.  it is hit or miss for me with texturing on mesh bodies.  checking off the hardware skinning option in graphics preferences fixes it but usually this makes their mesh bodies go sideways so i dont know what is worse lol.

if you prefer a Firestorm interface you might give the viewer-without-a-name-yet opensource build Simms made a try, it's built on more recent source than Sombrero was. that said, Shops textures don't bother me at all on my KDU builds, except that they are noticeably usually the last ones to load even with KDU.

what is your avatar? is it a complex mesh avatar? do you possibly are wearing something that has a corrupted texture that will never load and thus lags the render engine because it bogs down trying to load the texture? try logging in on different avatars and see if there are any changes, and try my Singularity KDU without OldSkool stuff in it and see if you have it there too. to find a fix we need to isolate the problem, and if possible reproduce it.

I have the same issue with OldSkool; whenever my cam is close to my own or any other avatar, the viewer begins to lag significantly. This happens in both crowded and virtually empty sims. Just the act of pushing in the camera to a closer perspective on avatars begins to cause stutter-like lag.

I use an SL classic shape, often with system layer clothing and no more than 2 - 3 mesh items (hair, shoes, etc) attached at any given time. No corrupted textures that I'm aware of.

Per SpeedTest.net, my average connection speed is 50 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up, so it's not an Internet issue. I've messed with various graphics settings (I typically run all viewers on Ultra with various settings lowered that I don't particularly care about, like terrain and avatar physics), but no change.

I haven't done thorough testing because I naturally gravitate toward Storm-based viewers. But I don't have the same issue on DarkStorm, Sombrero, or Simm's open-source Firestorm so it seems to be isolated to the Singularity builds.

heh. i think my system is too old and slow to troubleshoot this directly. any storm based viewer is basically a slug on here; singularity with openjpeg is faster than storm based viewers are at their leanest settings, and sing+kdu leaves them in the dust.

altho i do have something weird happen sometimes that might be related to it. i usually keep my draw distance at 24 meters, and sometimes the exact same scene, and camera angle, i will get a little of the stutter y'all are talking about, while my mouse is over the inworld view, but if i move it down so that its over the toolbar it stops. and if i have two avatars logged in, and deactivate both windows by clicking on the windows taskbar so that they are both visible but neither one is the foreground process, one of them will stutter like that until, again, i hover my mouse over the toolbar of one of them.

maybe somebody will see this stuff tho that knows some voodoo to do in the settings. what graphics cards do y'all have?
