Many users (including me) do not like to use CB viewers to download their wearables.
I prefer to wear the wearables I want to download and copy the appearance of the avatar on my HD.

Firestorm has a function for this:
You have to activate the "Developer" menu;
Then Developer-> Avatar-> Character Test-> Appearance to XML, and save the file to a folder on your PC.

The XML file contains the information to create, locally, all wearables worn by the avatar.

As is my habit, I created a simple tool that does the job (boring) for me.
How to use it?

•     Download the appearance.
  
•     Open the SLGenepool.exe file
  
•     Select the downloaded appearance xml files (Genepool)
  
•     If you do not want to create some wearable, uncheck the appropriate checkBox.
  
•     Select the radioBox to the output file  format (wearable or XML)
  
•     Press the "Write files" button
  
•     Select the destination directory
  
•     Done!!!

Thank you Gina!
The same appearance .XML file can also be used by avastar
to import the shape so you can transform your legacy avatar
into a mesh one.

in the newest version of firestorm not more.. if you save your appearance.. you save only your shape parameters... the uuids from textures are not more save...

Older Firestorm 5.0.2 working only for one week and than they woud be blocked... are there other viewer with this you can save your appearance with uuids?

I just tested it with the nightly build of Singularity. It still dumps the UUIDs.
