Mixed Prim and Mesh Linksets.

This may be the wrong spot so I apologize in advance. While there is a lot of focus on avatars and wearables, I like to work with structures. The challenge I face is the mix of prims and mesh linksets. To this point this has been a limiting factor in me sharing more. I've done some research here and I seen this this thread and I've copied the section I am referencing:

Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register to forum by clicking here to see links.

Mixed Prim and Mesh Linksets.
Mixed Linksets if exported as XML will require your avatar and your avatar ALT sharing permissions on the import receiving end.
Mixed Linksets will rez so long as your cache has not been cleared or compacted. You need your alt (who will not see the mesh objects imported) to unlink the prim and resave that part as .xml, while your regular avatar saves the remaining mesh as .dae collada.
Both pieces will need to be imported again and reattached. Very bothersome, but worth it.

Now I get this and understand how to do this however I have a couple of questions:

1) Is this still the preferred method work with prims and mesh?

2) When I have builds that incorporate mesh with prim linksets, how do I share that build here? You have the XML portion (easy enough) but how do you handle the mesh? DO you just do an XML and each user has to handle the mesh on their own?


Again I ask do I can share some newer builds with the group. J B C for example.

I have exported mixed prims and mesh linksets as .Dae

and imported the complete link set as mesh

this method only works for mesh and prims not for sculpties
