New Firestorm is out with BOM support.

Also here is the Maitreya BOM kit until they update the body.

So it's impossible to get individual textures as they'll all be baked into one texture with BOM. Is that right? If so, RIP for us.

I have mixed feelings about this.

1) I am glad BoM has happened, because I guess I no longer need to rip old layer textures into a developer/creator kit for my mesh body...

-But-

2) This makes me sad for whenever I need to create a fucking alt: may get mesh body parts as gifts, may even get dev kits, but *now* WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RIP TEXTURES INTO SAID DEV/CREATOR KIT FOR SELF - so, spend more money (on non-gift mesh body parts) or time (on edumacated stuff I know NOTHING about, like rigging shit in Blender/Avastar/Blahblahfuckingblahwhatever) regardless. Fuck, fuck. :p

It's been about a year... I kinda forgot how to do some of this stuff so great...
...But I think I noticed that when you send your appearance to XML (in regular FS, not DS) the UUIDs are all 0s now (as before in previous viewers, they were not, they were actual UUIDs) ...So it seems that SL servers are indeed masking/baking this code differently, as per BoM.

Also, now I noticed that none of my avatars can wear the system layered clothing in DS viewer. They appear as clouds (however, only to myself on the DS viewer; on alts using regular FS viewer near my DS avatars, they look fine). So yes... No longer will I be able to rip old system textures and put them into a dev/creator kit... so this BoM thing better fucking work ...all the goddamned way.

Anyhow...
-Is there a way to crack this so that we can still rip these textures (from at least ourselves)(and not the stacked, baked textures)?

I'm kinda afraid to un/re-install DS unless there's an update. Goon Life Viewer never worked for me, even with the keys. And I gave up trying to get the whatever-the-hell-it-is [Revolator?] viewer that is the reason why everyone shares on here ...I really tried. I thought I shared great things, but one bad thing turned into another and I'm kind of butthurt, LOL.

Sorry that I can't comment on everything, but have you tried to ask for some help related to Revelator?
The installation is pretty straightforward, just try to make sure (assuming you have Windows 8 or higher) that your OS is x64 (not just your CPU).

No, I totally didn't see that thread before I panicked and vomited all over this thread.  I still reading through it now.  But so far the Revelator viewer works great (I could actually never get the regular Singularity version to run)!  Perhaps it is because I did just update my graphics driver.  Had to manipulate that, it was a bitch.  But this is awesome!

Since Singularity will eventually update to BoM, I wonder if I need to take the time to rip all textures now before it's too late.

I'm also surprised it lets me modify non-modify objects (and other avatars will see these things modified -tested by an alt)!

Going to finish reading the Revelator thread and hopefully I can figure out how to rip objects, but if not, DS still works for that at least!

After BoM becomes popular, I guess we just have to get good at fixing them up ?
To rip objects, export them as dae along with the textures.
